Plans and workouts

How do I build a routine?

Train → the calendar button opens the plan editor. Create days, add exercises, set target sets and reps. Or start from a generated plan and edit any day; the block progress and week strip follow whatever plan is active.

How do I log a set?

Start the workout, then tap the circle at the end of a set row to bank it. Tap the weight or reps to edit inline. + Set adds a row; the rest timer starts itself when a set is completed.

Can I train without a plan?

Yes. Train → + → Start Empty Workout, then add exercises as you go.

What is the block progress bar?

It tracks where you are in the current training block, for example week 3 of 6, and when the next deload falls. It hides itself for plans you built by hand.

An exercise I want is missing.

Settings → Sync online catalog adds hundreds of community exercises from wger, with demonstration images. Or create your own from the library with a name, muscle group and equipment; custom exercises work offline.

Food, weight and charts

Where do calories and protein come from?

From what you log in Fuel. Food search and barcode lookups use Open Food Facts; you can also enter values by hand, which works offline.

The barcode scanner will not open.

It needs camera permission: iOS Settings → Forge → Camera. Scanning runs on your device and no picture is stored. If a barcode is not in Open Food Facts, enter the food by hand.

How do I change units?

Settings → Units switches between kilograms and pounds. Existing entries are converted for display, not rewritten.

The body-weight tile looks empty.

It needs at least two weigh-ins to draw a trend. Tap the tile to log today's weight.

Reminders and widgets

How do I get a training reminder?

Settings → Reminder. Pick a time and Forge schedules a local notification on your phone each day; it is off until you turn it on. If you declined the permission prompt, enable it under iOS Settings → Forge → Notifications.

Do widgets work offline?

Yes. Widgets read the same on-device store as the app. Open the app once after installing so the store exists.

Your data

How do I back up or export my history?

Settings → Export writes your workouts to a CSV you can share or save. For everything, back up or transfer your iPhone (iCloud device backup or Finder); the app has no server, so a device backup is the record.

How do I erase everything?

Settings → Reset all data erases every plan, workout, food entry and weigh-in and returns the app to onboarding. Export first if a record should survive.

Why does Forge need iOS 26?

It is built on the current SwiftUI, SwiftData and Swift Charts, and on the Liquid Glass design system for the floating tab bar. Older releases are not supported.

What data does the app collect?

None. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The privacy policy explains the two optional lookups and what stays on your device.
