Logging and predictions

I logged a period by mistake.

On the day you logged it, tap Logged by mistake? Undo under the log button. Later, open the Calendar, tap the day, and unmark it; Petal rebuilds your history and predictions from what's left.

Why does Petal say my period may start "around" a date?

When your recent cycles vary by four days or more, a single date would be false precision. Petal shows a range instead. Predictions always say "may" because they are estimates, not medical advice.

My period is late and the calendar moved the prediction.

Predictions roll forward to today instead of leaving a "predicted" band in the past. After ten days the Today card softens to a gentle prompt rather than a growing count.

How do I pause predictions (pregnancy, a break)?

Insights → Settings → Pause predictions. Logging and history stay live; the fertile window, countdowns, reminders and widget prediction fall silent until you resume.

Can I change which symptom chips appear?

Yes: Insights → Settings → Symptoms. Turn built-in chips on or off and add your own. Removing a chip never deletes what you already logged.

Reminders and widgets

Reminders aren't arriving.

Check the Period reminder toggle in Insights → Settings; if notification permission was denied, a line under it offers a one-tap link to iOS Settings. Reminders arrive at 9:00 AM and are scheduled on your device only. Nothing is scheduled while predictions are paused.

The widget shows a setup state.

The widget never creates the data store itself. Open the app once after installing; the widget updates right away.

Sync, Health and the lock

How does iCloud sync work?

It is off by default. Turn it on in Insights → Settings → iCloud sync and your data mirrors to your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can access. See the privacy policy.

Does Petal read my Apple Health data?

No. Health writing is opt-in and write-only: Petal adds your period days to Health and never reads anything back.

The app lock won't turn on.

The lock needs a device passcode. Without one, iOS cannot authenticate, so the lock stands down rather than locking you out.

Your data

How do I move to a new phone?

Either turn on iCloud sync on both phones, or Export my data on the old phone, send the file to yourself, and Import my data on the new one. Merge keeps anything already on the new phone; Replace starts fresh from the file.

How do I delete everything?

Insights → Settings → Delete my data erases every period, symptom and setting from the phone (and from iCloud if sync is on) and returns the app to onboarding. Export first if a record should survive.

What data does the app collect?

None. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The privacy policy explains exactly what stays on your device.
