Privacy Policy

Word Conquest is an iPhone app that teaches one English word a day, free, with an optional paid upgrade called Word Conquest Pro. This policy explains what data the app handles. It is written to be read, not skimmed past — and the short version is honest: we collect nothing.

1. Who we are

Word Conquest is made and published by Nischal Khadka, an independent developer. For anything about this policy, write to support@twofox.app.

2. What we collect

Nothing. The app does not ask you to create an account, does not collect your name, email address, or contact details, does not record how you use it, and does not contain analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising software from anyone. It makes no network requests to us, because there is nothing of ours to connect to.

The only network connections the app makes are to Apple, for the three Apple services described below (iCloud sync, the App Store, and silent iCloud sync notifications). Each of those is optional or governed by Apple's own privacy terms.

3. What the app stores on your device

To work at all, the app keeps your learning data in its own private storage on your device:

• Learning progress — the words you have learned or marked as already known, your review schedule, streak and streak freezes, XP, achievements, level, and your placement quiz result.
• Real Talk progress — the phrases you have conquered or marked as already known, and your quiz results for them (Pro).
• Settings — your native language, reminder time, notification choices, and the topic track you picked.
• A purchase flag — whether Word Conquest Pro is active, cached so the app can work offline. It holds no payment information.

This data is shared between the app and its widget through a private container that only Word Conquest can read. No other app on your phone can see it. Deleting the app deletes all of it from the device.

4. iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, your progress syncs through your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so it follows you to a new phone or a second device. That data belongs to your Apple Account: it is stored by Apple, encrypted in transit and at rest, and we cannot read it, access it, or share it. Apple's handling of it is described in Apple's privacy policy.

To keep sync running, the app registers for silent iCloud notifications from Apple. These carry no content and are never shown to you; they simply tell the app that something changed on another device.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, or you switch iCloud off for Word Conquest, everything simply stays on your device and the app works exactly the same.

You control this data yourself:

• Turn sync off: iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Saved to iCloud → Word Conquest.
• Delete synced data: iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Word Conquest → Delete data from iCloud.

5. Notifications

The daily word reminder, the evening streak warning, and achievement banners are local notifications, scheduled entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to you from a server. You can switch each one off in the app's Settings, and iOS lets you silence the app entirely in iOS Settings → Notifications.

6. Microphone and speech recognition

Word Conquest Pro includes an optional pronunciation coach. It listens only while you hold the record button, for at most five seconds, and only after you have granted microphone and speech-recognition permission, which iOS asks for the first time you use it.

• Your voice is transcribed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The app requires on-device recognition and never falls back to a server; if it is unavailable on your device, the coach hides itself instead.
• The recording is never written to disk, never kept after the attempt, and never sent to us or to anyone else. Only the resulting text is scored, and that text is discarded as soon as the attempt is over.
• You can revoke either permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. The rest of the app is unaffected.

7. Purchases

Word Conquest Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment. We never see your name, email address, or payment details, and we receive no personal data from the transaction. The app checks whether your purchase is active using Apple's on-device verification (StoreKit) and stores only a small flag saying "Pro is active". There is no purchase server and no account of any kind.

Subscriptions, free trials, and refunds are managed by Apple in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions and at reportaproblem.apple.com. Family Sharing is enabled for all Word Conquest Pro purchases.

8. Widgets, Shortcuts, and Siri

The Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show today's word and your progress by reading the same on-device storage as the app. The "Got it" button on the widget and the app's Shortcuts actions run on your device and update that storage; nothing is sent anywhere.

9. Third parties

There are none. The app contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks, and no analytics providers, and we do not sell, rent, or share data with anyone — there is no data to share. The bundled fonts and the word and phrase libraries are content, not services, and make no connections.

10. Deleting your data

• On your device: delete the app. iOS removes the app's private storage, including the widget's copy.
• In iCloud: iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Word Conquest → Delete data from iCloud. Do this before reinstalling if you want a completely fresh start, otherwise the app will faithfully restore your progress from iCloud.

Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side — and nothing for anyone to request from us.

11. Children

Word Conquest is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for learners of any age. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children, and has no accounts, chat, user-generated content, or web browsing. Purchases go through Apple's Ask to Buy and Family Sharing controls where a family has set them up.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area and United Kingdom) and the CCPA (California) give you rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data a company holds about you, and to object to its use. Word Conquest holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete — every right above is satisfied by the controls on your own device and Apple Account described in this policy. If you believe we have got any of this wrong, write to us and we will answer.

13. Security

Your data is protected by the same security your iPhone gives every app: the app's storage is sandboxed and encrypted with your device passcode, and iCloud data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest. Because nothing is sent to us, there is no server of ours that could be breached.

14. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that handles data differently — the updated policy will be published at this address with a new "last updated" date, and the app's App Store listing will point here. We will never quietly start collecting data under an old policy.
