Word Conquest

Help & Support

Word Conquest for iPhone · iOS 17 and later

Get in touch

Email support@twofox.app and a human — the person who made the app — will answer. It helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the app version shown at the bottom of the app's Settings screen. Spotted a wrong translation or a definition that could be clearer? Send the word and the language; content reports are the most useful mail we get.

Purchases and Pro

I bought Pro but the app still shows the free version.

Open the app's Settings and tap Restore purchases. Pro is tied to your Apple Account, so this also fixes a new phone or a reinstall. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with (iOS Settings → your name → Media & Purchases).

If you bought a subscription through a family member's Ask to Buy, Pro switches on by itself the moment they approve it — there is nothing else to tap.

The purchase failed, or said it couldn't be confirmed.

Wait a minute and try again; the App Store occasionally times out. If the app said a purchase couldn't be confirmed, tap Restore purchases — if Apple did charge you, restoring picks the purchase up and unlocks Pro. If you were charged and Pro still doesn't appear, email us with the date and the plan you chose and we will sort it out.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Word Conquest → Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling during a free trial means you are never charged.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles all refunds for App Store purchases, and we cannot issue them ourselves. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the Word Conquest purchase.

Why doesn't the app offer me the free trial?

Apple allows one introductory offer per Apple Account for each subscription group. If you (or someone in your Family Sharing group who shares purchases) have used the Word Conquest trial before, the app shows the regular price instead of promising a trial it cannot give you.

Does Pro work with Family Sharing?

Yes. Every Pro plan, including Lifetime, has Family Sharing enabled. Family members tap Restore purchases in their own copy of the app to pick it up.

Learning, words, and streaks

Can I get more than one word a day?

The daily word is free forever. Pro adds up to two bonus words a day from the Today screen, plus the Explorer, where you can browse the whole word bank and learn any word right away.

The daily word is too easy or too hard.

Tap I already know this on a word you know — the app never shows it again and quietly nudges your level up. If words feel too hard, keep practising: your level adjusts to your review results. You can also redo the placement quiz from Settings at any time.

How do streaks and streak freezes work?

Your streak counts every day you learn the daily word or complete a practice session. Every ten streak days earns a streak freeze (you can bank two), and a freeze is used automatically on a day you miss, so one busy day doesn't cost you the streak. Pro banks up to five freezes instead of two, and if a streak does break, Pro can repair it within 48 hours, once a calendar month.

I learned the word on the widget but the app didn't update.

The widget writes straight to the same storage as the app, so the app catches up the next time it opens — usually instantly. If the widget itself looks stale, remove it and add it again; iOS sometimes stops refreshing a widget after an update.

What does "I already know this one" do in Real Talk?

It retires the phrase for good: it is never served or quizzed again, doesn't count as a conquest, and earns no XP. Use it for phrases you genuinely know so the daily phrase is always something new. It cannot be undone.

Which languages are the translations in?

Spanish, Simplified Chinese, French, Russian, Romanian, Italian, Hindi, and Korean. Every word and every example sentence is translated into all eight by hand — never by machine. Change your language in Settings; the whole app switches at once.

Sync, notifications, and the coach

My progress didn't come across to my new phone.

Progress syncs through your private iCloud. On both devices check that you are signed in to the same Apple Account and that Word Conquest is switched on under iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Saved to iCloud. The Sync row in the app's Settings shows the live status; the first sync after a fresh install can take a minute on a slow connection.

Reminders aren't arriving.

Check the app's Settings first — each reminder has its own switch and the daily word has its own time. Then iOS Settings → Notifications → Word Conquest must be allowed, and a Focus mode can silence it. The app sends at most two notifications a day, both scheduled on your device.

The pronunciation coach is missing, or says it's unavailable.

The coach is a Pro feature that listens entirely on your device, and it hides itself when on-device speech recognition isn't available. On a supported iPhone, make sure microphone and speech recognition are allowed for Word Conquest in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, and that English dictation is enabled (iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Enable Dictation), which is what installs the on-device speech model. Nothing you say is recorded or uploaded — see the privacy policy.

The app says it couldn't save my progress.

Your iPhone is almost certainly out of storage. Free up some space (iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage) and try the action again — the app never pretends something was saved when it wasn't, so nothing is silently lost; it simply needs a little room to write.

Your data

How do I delete everything and start over?

Delete the app to remove everything on the device. To clear the iCloud copy too, go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Word Conquest → Delete data from iCloud, then reinstall. Do the iCloud step first, or the app will helpfully restore your old progress.

What data does the app collect?

None. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The privacy policy explains exactly what stays on your device and how iCloud sync works.
