Word Conquest

Terms of Use

Last updated: September 9, 2026

These terms cover your use of the Word Conquest app for iPhone ("the app"), made by Nischal Khadka ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. They are written in plain language on purpose; the plain language is the agreement.

1. The licence, and Apple's standard agreement

The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These Terms of Use add the details specific to Word Conquest — chiefly how Word Conquest Pro works and what you may do with the app's content. If anything here conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA controls.

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content, but as the Standard EULA explains, Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.

2. What the app is

Word Conquest is an educational app that teaches English vocabulary — one chosen word a day, with definitions, examples, pronunciation, and translations, plus practice, streaks, and an optional second library of everyday phrases ("Real Talk"). It needs iOS 17 or later. You may use it under your own Apple Account or, if you are a child, under a Family Sharing organiser's account with their permission.

3. Free features and Word Conquest Pro

The daily word — the word itself, its audio, examples, and translations, your due reviews, streaks, and widgets — is free, and stays free. Word Conquest Pro ("Pro") is an optional upgrade that adds more: extra words per day, the Real Talk library, custom practice, topic tracks, the word Explorer, insights, extra streak protection, and the pronunciation coach. The exact list is shown in the app before you buy and may grow over time.

Plans

PlanHow it works
Pro MonthlyAuto-renewing subscription, billed monthly.
Pro AnnualAuto-renewing subscription, billed yearly. New subscribers who are eligible get a 7-day free trial first.
Pro LifetimeOne-time purchase. No renewals.

Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm. All purchases go through Apple's in-app purchase system and are subject to Apple's terms; we never handle your payment details.

How subscriptions renew and how to cancel

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
  • A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • If you start a paid subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial is forfeited.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Free trials

The Pro Annual free trial is offered once per Apple Account, to customers Apple reports as eligible. The app only ever promises a trial it can actually give you: if you are not eligible, the button says so and shows the price instead.

Family Sharing and Lifetime

All Pro purchases support Apple's Family Sharing. "Lifetime" means for as long as Word Conquest is available on the App Store and supported on your device — it is a one-time payment, not a promise that the app will exist forever.

Restoring purchases

Pro is tied to your Apple Account, not to a device. After reinstalling or moving to a new phone, tap Restore Purchases in the app's Settings or on the Pro screen.

4. The content, and what you may do with it

The word bank, the Real Talk library, every definition, example, note and translation, the Ollie mascot, the app's design, and its name are our intellectual property and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may use them, inside the app, for your own personal learning. You may not copy, extract, scrape, republish, sell, or redistribute the content, or use it to build another product or to train a machine-learning model, without our written permission. Quoting a word or a definition to a friend is of course fine.

The content is written by hand to be accurate and idiomatic, and we correct mistakes when they are reported — but language is alive, and translations are judgement calls. The content is provided for learning, not as professional, legal, or examination advice. If you spot an error, please tell us.

5. Your data

The app has no accounts and collects no personal data. Your progress is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud database. How that works, and how to delete it, is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

6. Acceptable use

Beyond what the Standard EULA already says, you agree not to reverse engineer the app, tamper with its purchase checks, or use automated tools to extract its content. If you find a bug that lets you do any of those things, we would genuinely rather hear about it than have it exploited.

7. Changes to the app

We update the app regularly and may add, change, or retire features, including Pro features, to keep it working well as iOS and the content evolve. We will not remove something you paid for without a reasonable replacement, and we will not charge for anything that is free today without saying so first. We may stop offering the app entirely; if we do, existing installs keep working for as long as iOS allows.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that using it will produce any particular learning result, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits any rights the law gives you as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement, including your rights under the Standard EULA and against Apple as described there.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it; any active subscription is cancelled through iOS Settings as described above. We may end the licence if you materially breach these terms, for example by redistributing the content.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version is published at this address with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. Changes will never take away a purchase you have already made.

11. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute about the app, are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You and we agree that the state and federal courts located in Maryland have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute. Nothing in this section takes away protections you have under the consumer laws of the place where you live that cannot be waived by agreement, and nothing in it limits Apple's rights under the Standard EULA. Before going to court, write to support@twofox.app: most problems are fixable with an email.
